God with us (Pastor Ambrose Nwogu) 25-02-2015

NDIC/DMO Chapel
Central Business District,
Abuja - Nigeria
25th February, 2015

* Speaker: Pastor Ambrose Nwogu
* Topic: God with us
* Sub-Topic: Jesus Saves
* Text: Luke 19:1-5

* Jesus is the only one in whom we can find salvation

* The salvation that Jesus brings is on the one hand for every body, and on the other hand, not for every body

* Salvation is not by force

* Only people that are willing can obtain that Salvation

* Riches can militate against the salvation of many (because of pride & arrogance)

* If any man misses Christ, no excuse can stand. Everyone has been given opportunity

* Zaccheus laid aside every disadvantage and limitation standing against him and reached out for Jesus (he did not allow his wealth, position, the crowd or his physical limitation to stop)

* Jesus was not carried on any man's shoulder, or horse, or an executive motorcade, but walked in (among) the crowd, close to the people

* NOTE: Jesus was visiting Jericho for the last time
→ Maximize the opportunity to seek Jesus

* You must make an effort to 'see' Jesus.
→ Don't stop at just wishing. Step out in faith
→ Zaccheus ran ahead and climbed a tree (that was his effort)

* Zaccheus was inspired by how Jesus called Matthew, a fellow Tax Collector. He made effort also to see Jesus
→ Nothing is impossible: Jesus has done it for others, He can do it for you - provided you believe and are willing to seek Him

* John 1:48 → "How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you."

* Isaiah 43:1 → "But now, this is what the LORD says-- he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine."

* 1 Corinthians 8:3 → "But whoever loves God is known by God."

* Galatians 4:9 → "But now that you know God--or rather are known by God--how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?"

* Jesus knows each person by name! The day He wants to reach you, the knows your address

* Jesus knew Zaccheus (personally) and reached out to him on the tree

* Zaccheus desired to know Jesus, he desired and took action; Jesus reached out to him and even exceeded his expectation by following him to his house
