* As a believer, you are a winner

→ To win connotes the fact that you must have contended for something

* As we gather together as believers in Jesus, there is power in our midst

* Together, we are invincible 

→ The Most High God has put a mark of victory upon us

* If you consider yourself as a believer in Jesus, you must not stay away from the gathering of other believers

★ Psalm 133:1 →''Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!"

* As believers in Jesus Christ, we are brothers and sisters (brethren) because we have the same Father

★ John 14:1 → "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

* One of the reasons why we must fellowship together is because we are expectant of the second return of the Lord Jesus Christ

* After the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, believers will be reunited with Him and any form of 'fellowship' (on earth) will not be to His glory any longer - and may be done under stringent conditions

* Fellowship is important because we are members of the same family

* There is strength in united fellowship

★ Deuteronomy 32:30 → ''How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the Lord had surrendered them?"

Topic: Prevailing by faith (Fight the good Fight of Faith) (10)

Text: 2 Timothy 4:7-8 → "I have fought the good fight. I have completed the race. I have kept the faith. The victor’s crown of righteousness is now waiting for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on the day that he comes, and not only to me but also to all who eagerly wait for his appearing."

* Faith is the only means, method or strategy by which we become victorious in life

★ Why must I fight this good fight of faith?

1. It is a fight appointed, commissioned and commanded by God

☆ Job 23:12 → "I haven’t wandered away from the commands that he has spoken; I’ve treasured what he has said more than my own meals.”

* You have no authority to deviate from the command of God

2. It is one fight

→ There are two classes of fight: the good and the bad fight

→ Now is the only chance we have to fight the good fight; You have only one life to live

→ After this life, you have no other opportunity

☆ John 9:4 →" I must do the work of the one who sent me while it is day. Night is approaching, when no one can work."

3. It is One faith

☆ Ephesians 4:4-6 →"There is one body and one Spirit. Likewise, you were called to the one hope of your calling. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, through all, and in all."

* John 8:56 →"Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."

* We have been entrusted with the Same faith that the Patriarchs upheld and were commended for

☆ Genesis 14:18-20 (Abraham saw a preview of the glory of Jesus)

→ NOTE: The "King of Salem" was actually Jesus!

☆ Hebrews 11:7 →"By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, reverently prepared an ark to save his family, and by faith he condemned the world and inherited the righteousness that comes by faith."

4. That is the only way we Can take hold of the eternal life

☆ 2 Timothy 4:7-8

→ Many people, without fighting the good fight of faith entertain the hopes of securing eternal life. This is not possible! 

→ Notice the certainty by which the Apostle spoke

→ We all do not start the race at the same time. But how you start, how you run it, and how you complete it matters

* Satan has no right to deprive any man of eternal life. 

→ This is entirely your choice

Text: 1 Timothy 1:13 →"I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession" .[KJV]

* As a Christian, whether you realise it or not, you are faced with a battle

* What is your confession?

→ I am a casualty?

→ I am a victor?

* We are fighting against:

1. Self

2. Sin

3. Satan

* You must arm yourself with the confession of life → that the Lord is good

★ Nahum 1:7 →"The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him." [KJV]

* If you must be victorious in the battle of faith, you must realize that the Lord is good

* On your own you have no power over self, sin or Satan

★ 1st Corinthians 9:25-26 →"And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air." [KJV]

* You must be temperate in all things

* Must be certain in the victory you want to win

* If you can win the battle over self, you can win other battles presented before you

* You must be determined to keep self under control and subjection

* Sometimes if you are fighting the good fight of faith, we will be wounded but there is healing & comfort in our God!

☆ 2 Corinthians 7:4-6→ "My boldness of speech [is] great toward you; my glorying on your behalf [is] much. I have been filled with comfort, I am overflowing with joy on all our trouble. 5  For, indeed, coming into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but being troubled in every way, [with] fightings [on the] outside, and fears [on the] inside. 6  But He who comforts the lowly comforted us by the coming of Titus." [MKJV]

* When you are walking with God, the Seed of God is deposited in you. That seed produces the life (fruits of the Holy Spirit) that sets you apart from people who do not walk with God

☆ Effects of Sin in the life of a man:
1 . Sin dishonours the name of God in Your life

2. Sin can rob you of the joy and the power of God in your life
- The joy of the Holy Spirit is the source of your victory

3. Sin destroys your Christian testimony
- Satan's aim is to ensure that you never fulfil God's purpose in your life by being constantly under the bondage of sin

☆ How to overcome sin and live in victory:
- Note: Sin is the primary cause of failure in the life of a man

* Victory is an act of God
- You cannot attain victory on your own or by your own personal effort(s)

* Victory can only be attained by consistently living in obedience to God's Word
★ Deuteronomy 28:1-14

* Jesus has already won the victory for us; that is what we are standing upon

★ 1st John 1:8 → "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

* The victorious life entails:
- Overcoming sin (including the so-called "little sins" such as anger, fault-finding, irritability, complaining, lack of love, wrong thoughts, worry, anxiety,)

* The "small" victories you get by overcoming in "small" areas of your life translates to bigger victories eventually

* There is nothing like a "small sin". Before God, sin is sin and He hates it.

*Every sin is a major obstacle in your quest to attaining victory in Christ

* Many people have overcome the temptations and tendencies of falling into "sign-board" sins (ie, the known "big sins") and neglect the more subtle ones

* The trick of Satan is to magnify the power of sin in your life to such an extent that you are constantly kept in fear and bondage and therefore, fail to be liberated.

* Overcoming the power of Sin can only be possible in Christ Jesus.

* As soon as your faith in Christ dies, genuine victory will always elude you

* When you are defeated in your mind, you cannot attain victory
→ Victory proceeds from a mind that is transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God

* The life of Heaven begins with a life of holiness

* Holiness is the Key to attaining constant victory

* Here on earth, you will constantly struggle with sin, till you get to Heaven where sin and death lose their power

* Three (3) Blessings that accompany a victorious Christian life:
1. Unbroken fellowship with God
→ Genesis 3:8-10
* When sin comes into your life, it breaks your relationship with God

2. The power to do the work of God.
- Sin robs you of the confidence to serve God effectively
- Holiness enables you to receive massages from God and to also deliver them with power and confidence
★ Philippians 4:13 → "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

* You share in the privilege of reconciling people back to God (through evangelism)

3. It opens you up into a life of prospect to the possibilities of being used by God for honourable and noble purposes

* Ephesians 3:20-21

* Victory in Christ is a gift, just like salvation & eternal life

* You cannot get victory in Christ through your merits, achievements and human effort

* Grace is God's omnipotent power working through us, in us, and for us

* Living in constant victory is only possible when you depend upon God's grace to live a holy life

★ Romans 5:17b → "For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ."

* How to live a life of victory in Christ:
1. Dedicate your life to Christ totally & allow Him to sustain you
★ 2nd Timothy 1:12 → "That is why I suffer as I do. However, I am not ashamed, for I know the one in whom I have put my trust, and I’m convinced that he is able to protect what he has entrusted to me until the day that he comes."

2. Drop your burdens and challenges at the feet of the Lord
★ 1st Peter 5:7 →"Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you."

3. You must take Christ as your Victory

4. When you fail, don't accept defeat & remain subdued.
- Anytime there is a challenge, run to the Saviour for support

*NOTE: Victory is not just trying, but trusting
→ 'Trying' is what you do on your own, by your own strength and wisdom (self-sufficiency)
→ 'Trust' entails looking up to God to do for you what you cannot do for yourself

EXHORTATION

* Speaker: Rev. Chrysanthus John Bala
* Text: Luke 22:39-46

* Anguish & pain caused Jesus to prevail in prayer at Gethsemane

* Jesus Submitted Himself to God's will in prayer.
- What He wanted at that point was immaterial because His desire was for God's will to be done in His life

* Today, many Christians tend to 'command' God to do what they wish, whenever they desire. This is not supposed to be so.

* Jesus encouraged His disciples to also pray along with Him in His hour of need & trial. (v. 46)

* NOTE: Prayer is the believer's sheild against falling into temptation

* Temptation will not overtake you if you consistently prevail in the place of prayer

* Our victory is through Christ

★ Romans 8:37 → "In all these things we are triumphantly victorious due to the one who loved us."

Question 1: When you consider all the pieces of weapons provided, who, can you conclude is really fighting the battle?

* Answer→ "God" (1 John 4:4)

Question 2: Why can you always expect God to be the winner?

* Answer →"He is greater than he that is in the world"

Question: What does Romans 8:31 say to you regarding the attitude towards adversity and temptation since God is for us?

* Answer →"God is on my side, I've got no reason to be afraid"

* We are not contending against flesh and blood.

★ Ephesians 6:12 → "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

* God helps us despite the fact that we may be armed

* We fight the battle through Christ; without Christ, the armour we put on is useless

* God is fighting the battle for us, through us

* God does things His own way So that His name will be glorified

★ BIBLE STUDIES

* Topic: What Satan is doing in the World Today

* Speaker: Mr. Jonathan Achimugu

* Almost all news media today report nefarious acts of Satan: famines, fraud, theft, massacres, cult activities, and the like. Satan is the root of all these social evils

★ Revelations 12:9 → "The huge dragon was hurled down. That ancient serpent, called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world, was hurled down to the earth, along with its angels."

* Satan and his angels (demons) join forces to fight against God's people

* Satan is the adversary of the Children of God who seeks day and night to destroy them

* The Children of God Should not take the activities of Satan lightly!

* Satan is cruel, clever, hungry and always looking for an opportunity to destroy the Children of God

* Satan is a deceiver. First, he deceived himself (wanting to exaIt himself above the stars of God) then, he deceived the creatures of God [Isaiah 14:13-14] but God humiliated him

* Satan hates anyone who does not believe in his lies. That is why He accuses believers.

★ Revelations 12:10 →"Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say, “Now the salvation, the power, the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah have come. For the one who accuses our brothers, who accuses them day and night in the presence of our God, has been thrown out."

★ 1 Thessalonians 2:18 →"That is why we wanted to come to you. Certainly I, Paul, wanted to come time and again, but Satan blocked our way."

* Satan always tries to hinder Christians from following Christ

★ Matthew 16:21-23

→ Satan opposes the will of God in our lives through (willing) relatives, friends, associates, colleagues etc

★ 1 Thessalonians 3:5 →"But when I could stand it no longer, I sent Timothy to find out about your faith. I was afraid that the tempter had tempted you in some way, and that our work had been a waste of time."

* Satan is a tempter. His primary aim is to frustrate the work of God's Ministers

* The devil's power is limited. He is not everywhere and does not know everything - unlike our Almighty God who is omnipresent and Omnipotent. That is why Satan uses demons to carry out his evil deeds.

(Ephesians 6:12)

★ See: Exodus 7:11, Matthew 12:22, Acts 4:7

* Demons cause havoc (Luke 7:27)

* NOTE: It is a mistake to attribute the cause of every sickness to the devil; Although many cases of sicknesses, famines, injuries etc. are caused by him.

* Satan uses man's sinful nature to accomplish his will, eg: kidnappers, murderers, armed robbers, liars, fraudsters, smugglers, drunkards, the sexually immoral, and the like - they are helping Satan, but most of them do not realize this fact

* People who are demon-possessed can be delivered through the blood of Jesus Christ

* Spiritually matured Christians Can pray for people who are possessed (by demons) and help them to be restored to God's love

* Satan should not be feared; his demons Should not be dreaded - Jesus has overcome them. Praise be to His name!

☆ PRAYER

1. Pray that God will protect as and our families from the attacks of the devil

2. Praise God for Jesus (He has won eternal victory over Satan and the forces of darkness)
