LECTURE 1
* Topic: Relationship Between the Boys' Brigade Chaplains, Patrons and Officers in Boys' Brigade (BB)

Definition of Some Important Terms
* "Chaplain" → the Minister of the Christian religion appointed by the Church to take care of the Boys
 
* "Patrons" → Any person (male or female) appointed in accordance with the Boy's Brigade Rules
 
* "Member" → Any person enrolled into to boys brigade:
* Types of Members of the BB:
    (a) members by enrolment (recruitment)
    (b) Honorary members
→ All members have equal rights
 
* "Relationship" → The way two or more people behave towards each other; Interaction and connection between two or more people
→ You owe a certain duty towards a person(s) to which you have a relationship with
→ Every relationship needs to be Maintained and nourished

* As a Patron/Chaplain, you have to perform your duties:
→ Advices
→ Spiritual visit
→ Wear uniform When required
→ Organise meetings
→ Attend Seminars and other BB functions
→ Encourage parents to bring Their Children to the BB
→ Find means of encouraging the Boys career-wise
→ Moral and financial Support
→ Be current in the BB affairs
→ Spiritual guidance
→ Assist the parents in discovering the children's talents and encourage them
→ Reporting to the parents any good or bad attitude discovered in the children

* The Captain is the major hub of all relationships within the BB
→ He is the Chief Coordinator

* Benefits of Good Relationship in the Company
→ Mutual understanding
→ Smooth running of the company
→ Parents are confident to always release their children
→ The continuity of the Church is assured

* Hindrances of Good relationship
→ Where parents fail in their own duty
→ Where the Chaplain or patrons fail in their Own duty
→ Where the company fails in performing their own duties
→ Unfaithfulness on the part of Officers and members of the BB
→ Some Church doctrines and policies
→ Ignorance (on the Part of Some captains & members)
→ Tribalism
→ Environmental factors
