The Power in Fellowship (3) (Mr. Johnson Amadi) 19-07-2017

★ MY SERMON NOTES
NDIC/DMO Chapel
Central Business District,
Abuja, Nigeria
19th July, 2017

* Speaker: Mr. Johnson Amadi
* Topic: The Power in Fellowship (3)
* Text: Hebrews 10:24-25 → "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."

* There are some 'believers' who are in the habit of staying away from fellowship
→  this should not be so
→ they should be encouraged to be joined together with other believers in fellowship

* Some stay away for many reasons, including the fact that they are not appreciated for their contributions

* NOTE: Every thing Jesus did was in the interest of the public (Acts 10:38), yet He was persecuted and crucified!
→ this did not deter Him from fulfilling His destiny

* You must not emulate those who stay away

★ Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 →"Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labour.  For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.  Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone?  Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken."

* There is strength in uniting with others

* There is a limit to what one person can achieve
→ When there is collaboration, fruitfulness is multiplied geometrically

* Do not allow your denominational affiliation or personal sentiments to prevent you from fellowshiping with other believers

The Power in Fellowship (2) (Mr. Johnson Amadi) 18-07-2017

★ MY SERMON NOTES
NDIC/DMO Chapel
Central Business District,
Abuja, Nigeria
18th July, 2017

* Speaker: Mr. Johnson Amadi
* Topic: The Power in Fellowship (2)

* As a believer, you are a winner
→ To win connotes the fact that you must have contended for something

* As we gather together as believers in Jesus, there is power in our midst

* Together, we are invincible
→ The Most High God has put a mark of victory upon us

* If you consider yourself as a believer in Jesus, you must not stay away from the gathering of other believers

★ Psalm 133:1 →''Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!"

* As believers in Jesus Christ, we are brothers and sisters (brethren) because we have the same Father

★ John 14:1 → "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

* One of the reasons why we must fellowship together is because we are expectant of the second return of the Lord Jesus Christ

* After the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, believers will be reunited with Him and any form of 'fellowship' (on earth) will not be to His glory any longer - and may be done under stringent conditions

* Fellowship is important because we are members of the same family

* There is strength in united fellowship

★ Deuteronomy 32:30 → ''How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the Lord had surrendered them?"

Jesus the Joy-Giver (Pastor John Kayode Abiodun) 01-04-2015

NDlC/DMO Fellowship
Central Business District,
Abuja - Nigeria
1st April, 2015

SERMON
* Speaker: Pastor John Kayode Abiodun
* Topic: Jesus the Joy Giver

* Text: Psalm 16:11 - "You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for ever more." (American King James Version)

* With Jesus in your life, joy is sure

* Joy is the opposite of sorrow

* Joy gives strength

* Joy is essential to the life of a believer

* Satan is the author of sorrow and is in fact interested in our sorrowing

* God can intervene and bring you joy.

* Examples of Manifestation of Joy
1. When God meets and surpasses your expectation

2. When God makes a way where there is no way by making the impossible to become possible

3. When the irreversible becomes reversible

4. When God decides to visit you
★ Luke 19:1-10 (Jesus pays Zaccheus a visit)
★ Genesis 18:1-15 (Angels visit to Abram and Sarah, and their story of childlessness changed)

* God is the only one that gives joy not like the world gives
→ The world at best, can give happiness which is temporal
→ Happiness and joy look alike,

* Conditions for Getting Joy
1. Salvation
→ Genuine joy comes through having a relationship with God
★ Luke 2:10
→ The most noticeable thing When you receive Christ is a fullness of joy and peace in your heart

* Without Christ, there will be crises in your life

* Rejecting Jesus is like rejecting life and joy (Psalm 16:11)

→ Note: Jesus has no substitute - it is either you have Him or not

* Without Christ, there will be confusion, but with Him, everything will be alright

# Prayer:
"Let there be More of Jesus in my life"

Inner Strength (Pastor Victor Amos) 23-11-14

SUNDAY SERVICE
★ MY SERMON NOTES
@ Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN)
Area 1, Garki - Abuja
23rd November, 2014

SERMON
* Speaker: Pastor Victor Amos
* Theme: Knowing the Will of God
* Topic: Inner Strength

* Six Facts Concerning Inner Strength:
1. You cannot possess inner strength if you are not connected to Christ.

2. Inner Strength for a child of God entails peace from God
★ Isaiah 9:6 →"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

* Note: Jesus is our prince of peace & genuine peace can only be found through Him.

3. Inner Strength has nothing to do with your physical (muscular) build or material possessions.

4. Inner strength is only available to those who are interested in having a relationship with Christ.

5. Victory in Christ comes as a result of possessing inner strength.

6. If you enjoy sin, you cannot benefit from inner strength & genuine peace will continue to elude you.

* Happiness does not depend on your present circumstances or by having material possessions

* Life is not a party, but a race & a trust

* To utilize the Lord's purpose for your life, you must possess inner strength.

* If you know the will of God and are doing it, you will enjoy the peace of God.

* Enjoying the peace of God does not mean that you will not face challenges in your life.

* Paul's letter to the Philippians is full of the theme of joy.
→ Assignment: Take time to read the book of Philippians and understand the concept of having joy in the face of challenges.

* NOTE: Paul's letter to the Philippians was written from the Prison!
→ He gave what he had.
→ You cannot give what you do not have
→ Paul demonstrated the fact that with inner strength from God, he can adjust to any situation in life and still be victorious.

* Paul depended on Christ for the grace to be victorious.

* Inner strength has a lot to do with your (mental) state of mind and who you are connected to.

* Inner strength equips you to face the issues of life with confidence.

* You must realize the fact that making it in life is not by your might.

* Where is your strength? What is your source of confidence in life?

★ Psalm 34:5 → "They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed."

* God is the source of your radiance.

* When you think all hope is lost, that is when God is at his best!

* The problem with many Christians is that we do not believe God's Words.

* Biblical Characters that Operated with Inner Strength:
→ King Hezekiah (2nd Kings 20)
→ David: Consistently relied on the Lord for victory over difficult situations and ever-present enemies
→ Joseph: forgave His brothers in spite of their deep betrayal (Genesis 50)
→ Samson: repented and regained inner strength to overcome his enemies thereby accomplishing his mission. (Judges 16:23-30)
→ Abraham: He walked closely with God by faith (Hebrews 11:8)
→ Esther: Stood up and defended her people who were about to experience genocide, at the risk of her own life (Esther 4:14-17)

* If you know your God, you will not be subjected/ defeated by any situation in life.

★ Jeremiah 29:11 →"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

* God's plan for you is to live a victorious Christian life.

★ John 15:5 → "I am the vine, you are the branches. The one who abides in me while I abide in him produces much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing."

* When you remain (abide) in God, He will help you to accomplish much more than your own strength and human effort can achieve.

* Sin is your enemy: It drains your spiritual strength and makes you vulnerable.

* Every sin you commit is an evil seed that will germinate and haunt you latter in life - unless God has mercy on you when you return to him in genuine repentance.

* Sin is a burden that weighs you down and hinders you from fulfilling God's purpose.

Looking unto Jesus 09-09-1999

★ MY SERMON NOTES
@ Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN)
(Now Church of Christ in Nations)
Headquarters Compound Church
Youth Week
9th September, 1999

SERMON
* Speaker: [no data]
* Topic: Looking unto Jesus

* The secret to spiritual vitality is looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith

* Jesus also ran the race of faith though He faced many obstacles

* There is a prize at the end of the road

* When winning a race, the direction of your face matters a lot
→ An athlete must be a focused person

★ Psalm 57

* One who must draw vitality from God MUST be focused
→ NOTE: Everything you look at affects you

* A man who is not looking 'up' cannot get anything from there

★ James 1:6 → "But he must ask in faith, without any doubts, for the one who has doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind."

* The reason why many who were ordained for greatness did not get there is because they did not fix their eyes on the goal

→ A person who is unstable will never recieve anything from God

* Many Christians are indecisive and unstable in their ways

* God gives His blessings only to those who are not unstable and careless

* Physical things are ordered from the spiritual realm - if you are unstable in your spiritual life, it will manifest in the physical things that can be seen

* No human being is a reference point for our Christian living
→ You should only conform to the image of Jesus

* No human being is indispensable and you cannot fulfil God's desires until your eyes are fixed and focused on Jesus - when He becomes your reference point

* Instability is a major disqualification for a man who wants to walk with God

* The pleasures of this life have the potential to make you unstable
→ The best things in life might not be God's will for you

* The whole duty of man is to fear God

★ Psalm 73
→ When you consider the prosperity of the wicked (of the world) you'll slip away

* Every advantage in life has disadvantages

* A man that lives in godless pleasure now is actually living in death

* Even if you attain your heart's dreams while here on earth, you still have eternity to face

* You may be happy, but without Jesus, you cannot find true joy (which is a fruit of the spirit)

* Men who do not have God cannot sing in the midst of calamity
