LECTURE 3
* Topic: The Roles of the Chaplains and Patrons in the Boys Brigade (BB)
* Speaker: Mr. Nansel Bagudu
* The BB is one of the oldest uniformed Christian organizations in the world
* The BB gives boys the avenue to Serve Christ
* The BB gives us the opportunity to 'hold' the young boys in Church and in the Christian faith
* Luke 2:52 - "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."
* The BB approach covers the following:
→ Physical (Games, drilling, Out-door activities, Camps etc.)
→ Spiritual (Bible teaching, Singing, etc.)
→ Intellectual wisdom (acquire practical skills through training)
→ Social (meet and interact with fiends and other people)
→ Adventure (camp - teaching self Confidence & independence)
* What is expected of Patrons
→ Be a good Christian example everywhere you go
→ Be an adult role model by acting your age
→ Learn discipline and parenting skills (so That you can provide guidance)
→ Be known to the Church's Pastoral team
→ Agree to follow the BB code of Conduct
→ Regular Church attendance
→ Always liaise with the Captain
→ Be willing to sacrifice your time always
→ Represent the BB well at all times
→ Explore all avenues to promote the objects of the BB
→ Liaise with the parents if the Church
→ Thank parents for Sending their Children
→ offer parental advice
→ Support and help the BB officers in the Church .
→ Give publicity to the activities of the BB (especially the Chaplains)
→ Correct, advice and discipline in love
* Patron's Duty
→ Responsibility to the Boys (understand their character)
→ Responsibly to yourself (watch your life and be committed to Christ)
* Give priority to the activities of the BB in developing the leaders of tomorrow
