* Speaker: Pastor Steve Oricha
* Topic: Baptism of the Holy Spirit

* The Holy Spirit is the agent of salvation involved in all areas of life

* He guides, leads, helps, and empowers the believer

* The Holy Spirit was present at the beginning as the agent of creation
→ When God said 'let there be light' in Genesis 1:2, it was the Holy Spirit who caused it to happen

Who is the Holy Spirit?
→ He is the third person of the trinity (1 John 5:7-8)
→ He has all the attributes of God
→ He is eternal (Hebrews 9:14)
→ He is omniscient (1 Corinthians 2:10)
→ He is Omnipotent (Luke 1:35)
→ He is omnipresent (Psalm 139:7-8)

The Holy Spirit is a personality
→ He Speaks (Acts 13:2)
→ He has emotions (Romans 8:27)
→ He can be greived (Ephesians 4:30)
→ He has a will and takes decisions (1 Corinthians 12:11)
→ He is referred to as the Counsellor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener and Standby
→ He convicts people of sin (John 3:5-7)
→ He reproves the world of sin and of righteousness, and judgement (John 16:8)

* The Holy Spirit came INTO you when you got born again (Mark 1:8; Romans 8:11)

* The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit coming UPON you
→ this is spiritual empowerment

* The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is one thing

What is baptism of the Holy Spirit?
→ It is the process of infilling with the power of God
→ It is the empowerment from God that helps you to engage in ministry

* Without the Holy Spirit, you cannot be a good Christian

What is the sign of the Holy Spirit's presence in a Believer's life
1. Power to witness for Christ (Acts 1:8)
2. Speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:4)
3. Performing miracles, casting out demons, speaking in tongues, Divine protection (Mark 16:17-18)

How did the disciples receive the Holy Spirit's Baptism?
1. By hearing the words of the Gospel of Christ (Acts 10:44-47)
2. During a meeting of the believers (Acts 2:1-4)
3. By laying on of hands (Acts 19:6)

Benefits of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
1. Promise of the Father (Acts 1:4)
2. Empowerment (Acts 1:8)
3. Guidance (John 16:12-13)
4. Speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:4)

What are the benefits of praying in tongues?
→ (Romans 8:26-27)
* We are helped in our weaknesses
* The Holy Spirit interceeds for us

What qualifies you to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
→ (Acts 2:38-39)
* Repentance from sin dead works
* Believe that the Holy Spirit is your portion

The promise of the Holy Spirit is for (Acts 2:39):
1. Peter's original audience
2. Their children
3. All those who are afar off (from Jerusalem)
4. As many as the Lord our God will call

* If you are not filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of Speaking In Tongues, today is your day

* The Holy Spirit that is in a Pastor is the same Holy Spirit that is in you. There is no difference!

* You need to allow the power of the Holy Spirit to be maximized
→ Do not just limit His power to just speaking in tongues

* NOTE: There is no counterfeit Holy Spirit!
→ It is either the Holy Spirit or it is not Him

* Speaking in tongues is speaking directly with God
→ The devil does not know what you are saying. He is at a loss!

* You also grow in speaking in tongues, the same way you learn any other language
→ With time, your vocabulary is increased

* You must not let your mind rationalize the workings of the Holy Spirit in your life

* If you are not filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of Speaking in Tongues, today is your day
⇒ If you want to receive the Holy Spirit, just ask ~

Memory Verse:
Acts 1:8 →"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
